Short story: Deatschwerks=poop, Nismo=not poop. Search 87ZXTN on zcar, arkansasturbo on tt.net for more info on my problems, attempted cures, and advice. After seeing zcar.com member Bill Sutton post about having erractic idle issues and poor performance, coupled with member Maxx action and fixing them with the installation of Nismo, I purchased a set of 615cc for the Z. My exact symptoms: upon cold start up it would idle high like it is supposed to and about 20-30 seconds in the car would stall (sometimes quickly sometimes slowly), it was a BUCKING BRONCO of a ride when I tried to drive with a still cold engine, and finally the idle when warm would slowly climb from >800 rpms to a little over 1000, then suddenly the idle would drop back to below 800....rinse and repeat indefinitely. I inherited these idle issues back in late '09. I, like Maxx, spent hundreds/thousands going nowhere with issue. Searching and searching and searching revealed no fix. I tried tons of things to get rid of the problem. Then Maxx posted about his problems with his DW 740s being IIRC lean at idle, correct at high rpm. Then Bill said he installed DW 550s and got "my" problems with idle. The two fixing their issues with Nismo convinced me that I cheaped out on easily one of the most important components in the engine. Friday I tore off the plenum (pull number 6 in as many months I believe) and got the injectors in the rail, passing the submerge air pressure test. Saturday I put them in, swapped chips, and started the car. It died still stalled but in a more immediate and different manner. I was upset to say the least. Then my friend, who's a Stealth guy but offered up his aircraft hanger of a shop for me to use, said that he wasn't sure if he tightened the acorn nuts on the PS of the balance tube (I let him do a few things that were simple). Sure enough, they were loose. The car still stalled after tightening, but slower to do so. Then I started looking for vacuum hoses, the line that runs to the underside of the DS throttle body was off. Replaced that and the car, finally, behaved. I took it for a maybe foolish 200 mile round trip test drive to my little sister's state soccer tournament game. No problems, no backfiring upon deceleration, no hunting at stoplights, nothing. Car built boost sooner, exhaust tips weren't as black, etc. This morning was the big test however. It was ~55 degrees and I went out to see if the cold driving bucking bronco machine had been put to rest. It most definitely has disappeared, I can say 10000% that my issues, headaches, threats to sell, etc since 11/09 have all been because I bought cheap injectors---Deatschwerks. Thanks to everyone that ever lent a helping hand or word of advice to me on both this site and zcar.com. Bill, Maxx, Doug, Salvadoran, JT, Cuis, Kylekidd, Luminar.....everybody. Yesterday and this morning have been a dream come true, a long end to a battle I've grown sick of. I will never be able to voice the appreciation I have for this site, its members, and especially its members with unreal perseverance to help out the next guy. Thank you all!!!
